The term "alternative currency" refers to a feature that allows businesses to conduct transactions and accept payments in currencies other than their primary or default currency. This feature is particularly valuable for businesses that serve a diverse customer base or operate in international environments.

• For example, a shop in an airport may accept several currencies from customers. If your primary currency is US Dollar, you may accept Indian Rupees INR as well.

• The POS system able to perform these alternative currencies. To perform this, user need to setup the conversion rate and update it manually when currency rates change.

• During the checkout process, if alternate currency payment is setup, those alternative currencies will show in the Payment Interface.

1. Login to POS Back Office Webportal
2. Select “ Settings ” from main menu
3. Go to the “ Feature”
4. Tick ON “ Alternative Currency” button
5. Click “ Save”

(Once you ON “Alternative Currency”, it will appear as a sub-menu in the Settings section)

6. Select Alternative Currency
7. Click “Add Alternative Currency”
8. Enter the currency code and value
9. Click status ON
10. Click “Save”

(Once the ‘alternative currency” is added, then it will download to the POS app and shows in Payment Interface near the ‘Amount Due” section as a dropdown.)

Vendtill POS system can generate pre-bills using alternative currencies. Now, you can issue pre-bills in currencies such as Euros, Dollars, Yen, and more. This is especially useful for businesses in tourist areas where customers pay in various currencies. 

How to get Pre-Bills in Alternative Currencies.

• POS App main menu
• Select “ New Sale ”
• Click “Open Orders”
• Select an order and click the “Print” icon
• Select the curruency from the dropdown list
• Click “Print”

( Once you click “Print”, the Pre-Bill will print with the selected alternative currency on it) 

Special Note:
This option will be available for all locations where the "Pre-Bill" option is shown, providing greater flexibility and convenience for both you and your international customers.

The exchange rate used for transactions is constantly changing. If you use the alternative currency option, you have to manually enter this into the POS system
Steps
1. Login to POS Back Office Webportal
2. Select “ Settings ” from main menu
3. Select Alternative Currency
4. Click on the relevant Alternative Currency
5. Enter new value
6. Click status ON
7. Click “Update”

(Once the ‘alternative currency” is updated, it will download to the POS app and show in the Payment Interface near the ‘Amount Due” section as a dropdown. You need an internet connection in the POS app side to update the changed currency rate.)
